Through donations in kind as well as by financial means, we support charitable projects and organisations in the local communities where our international subsidiaries are situated. "Think globally, act locally" is our guiding principle, as we are convinced that the employees of our local organisations are best suited to understand the needs and cultural characteristics of their social communities.
An example for this policy is the christmas gift our subsidiary Albanian Ferry Terminal Operator (AFTO) gave to a school that takes care of kids suffering from diverse forms of trisomy, microcephaly or hydrocephaly in 2017. Our local colleagues carefully selected the school, bought two television sets for the classrooms, some equipment for the gym as well as chocolate and toys for the kids and then handed the gifts over personally, thus ensuring that the donation arrives where it is really needed – in the hands of the kids.
