FRS organizes repatriation from Morocco
- The crossing took place on 3rd July via the route Tangier Med – Algeciras
- The ferry carried over 300 passengers and 180 vehicles
Upon arrival in Algeciras, the citizens transported by FRS were able to continue their journey through Spain to their home countries. The organization of this repatriation operation is the result of aclose collaboration with the German embassy in Rabat, which made it possible to mitigate a situation that had held citizens of various nationalities, mainly Germans, in Morocco during all these months.
Last May, FRS already organized a repatriation operation for British citizens, 57 from Gibraltar and 25 from Great Britain, who were also stranded in Morocco after the border was closed.
FRS is the only shipping company that serves all routes in the Strait of Gibraltar. In 2019, it carried more than 1.9 million passengers, 88,000 vehicles and 114,000 freight units.
FRS Iberia is a 100% subsidiary of the FRS Group. The Flensburg-based shipping group has developed from a regional passenger ship shipping company into an internationally active group of companies with around 2,000 employees. FRS operates 58 ships worldwide. It thus transports a total of 7.9 million passengers and 2.1 million vehicles on its national and international ferry lines every year. Today, the portfolio of the FRS Group based in Northern Germany includes 16 subsidiaries based in Europe, North Africa, North America and the Middle East.
In the region of northern Germany, the FRS Helgoline with its catamaran connection with the "Halunder Jet" from Hamburg and Cuxhaven to Helgoland and the Rømø-Sylt line (Sylt Ferry) are particularly well known. The Rømø-Sylt line is the maritime connection to Sylt: The double-ended ferries "SyltExpress" and "RömöExpress" go from Havneby on Rømø to List on Sylt and bring passengers and any kind of vehicle to the island in about 40 minutes.
