11th FRS Syltfähre Music Night with the band Madsen aboard the “SyltExpress”

Sylt, 13 May 2026 – On Thursday, 2 July 2026, FRS Syltfähre will host the 11th FRS Syltfähre Music Night aboard the “SyltExpress”. Headlining the evening is German indie rock band Madsen. For more than 20 years, the band from Lower Saxony has been one of the defining live acts in the German music scene and will bring along their new album Smile, due for release in summer 2026. Supporting the event will be Hamburg-based band SCHLUMA.

With its 11th edition, FRS Syltfähre and the Kurverwaltung List auf Sylt continue their established concert series on the North Sea. Once again, the “SyltExpress” will become a floating concert venue, offering music fans a live experience in a unique setting. Between List on Sylt and Havneby on Rømø, fresh North Sea air, panoramic sea views, and close proximity to the artists combine to create a truly special atmosphere.

“The Music Night is a very special format for us because, on this evening, the ‘SyltExpress’ transforms into a floating stage,” says Tim Kunstmann, Managing Director of FRS Syltfähre. “The close connection between the band and the audience, the maritime backdrop, and the concert right in the middle of the North Sea create an atmosphere that is truly unique. With Madsen, we are welcoming a band on board that is known for its energy on stage and its strong connection with fans.”

Maiken Neubauer, Director of Tourism for List on Sylt, is also pleased to see the concert series continue: “The FRS Syltfähre Music Night is an essential part of the event calendar in List on Sylt and consistently creates special moments just off our coast. As the tourism authority of List on Sylt, we are delighted to support this format because it brings music fans to the north and showcases the unique maritime atmosphere of our town in a very special way.”

Madsen have released numerous albums since their self-titled debut Madsen in 2005 and have built a large fan base with songs such as Lass die Musik an, Du schreibst Geschichte, and Macht euch laut. Their latest album to date, Hollywood, was released in 2023 on the band’s own label and reached number one in the German album charts. Their tenth studio album, Smile, will be released on 5 June 2026.

Opening the evening will be SCHLUMA. The young Hamburg-based band is known for its stripped-back lo-fi indie rock, drawing inspiration from the 1990s, incorporating noise influences, and combining observational lyrics with subtle humor.

Over the years, the FRS Syltfähre Music Night has established itself as a unique concert format at sea. Previous artists performing on the floating stage have included Clueso, Vanessa Mai, Thees Uhlmann, Beatrice Egli, Heino, Wolfgang Niedecken, and Kettcar.

The event is organized by FRS Syltfähre in cooperation with the Kurverwaltung List auf Sylt and Grand Hotel van Cleef.

Tickets will be available from 15 May 2026 at 10:00 a.m. online via FRS Syltfähre and at the FRS Syltfähre ticket offices in List on Sylt and Havneby on Rømø.
