FRS takes over Rhine ferry Maul between Ingelheim and Oestrich-Winkel
Flensburg shipping company shows presence on the Rhine
‘By taking over the Maul Rhine ferry, we are demonstrating our presence on the Middle Rhine and emphasising our goal of further developing ferry connections as important elements of regional infrastructure,’ explains Tim Kunstmann, Managing Director of the FRS Europe Division. ‘We would like to thank Michael Maul for his trust in entrusting us with his family's life's work. We look forward to continuing this tradition-rich connection together with the workforce and setting it up for the future.’
Tradition and future combined
Rheinfähre Maul GmbH can look back on over 50 years of history and is an indispensable link for commuters and tourists in the region. ‘For me, it was crucial that I put my company in the right hands,’ says Michael Maul, the previous owner. ‘With its many years of experience and focus on reliability and the customer, FRS will strengthen this important connection in the long term and continue to run it successfully.’
As a family-run company with over 150 years of tradition, FRS also stands for reliability and innovation.
The takeover marks the further expansion of FRS's activities in the inland shipping sector.
Future-oriented prospects for the Middle Rhine
With the takeover of the Rhine ferry Maul, FRS is laying the foundations for long-term development on the Middle Rhine. By identifying and utilising operational synergies, the shipping company plans to further improve the infrastructure and make a contribution to sustainable mobility. This also includes the gradual integration of innovative technologies to drive forward the decarbonisation of ferry transport. FRS is open to future collaborations in the region: ‘We look forward to working with local partners and stakeholders to provide new impetus for development on the Middle Rhine,’ says Kunstmann. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
