FRS employees save CO2 on their way to work

During the competition period from September 9th to October 6th, as many Flensburg inhabitants as possible were to be convinced to leave their cars at home and get to work in a climate-friendly way by riding their bicycles. Verifiably, this means of transportation does not only reduce health risks but also saves quite some money – and because of the generally short distances in the town of Flensburg also a lot of time!

The association Klimapakt Flensburg e. V., promoted by the municipality, was very satisfied with the 2019 results of their annual bicycle campaign. 226 teams represented by 763 cyclists from 73 Flensburg based companies and organisations as well as 16 schools travelled overall 106,347 km by bike in September 2019. This means an increase in mileage of 10 % as well as CO2 savings of about 17 tons compared to the use of cars. The participants took part in a prize draw at a fun closing event. Furthermore, each participant got a repair discount from a local bicycle shop and a coupon for a five day e-bike rent.
