The Diversity Of Your Responsibilities

The IT landscape and tasks at FRS are diverse and dynamic, just like the environment, from operating simple hardware to complex IT and communication systems. In IT at FRS, expertise is not only taught on land but also on board within the FRS fleet, as more and more IT systems are available to customers and guests there. Likewise, our trainees pass through almost all departments of FRS.

Your Apprenticeship At FRS

Hard disk.

At the beginning of your three-year apprenticeship as an IT specialist at FRS, you will work at our IT helpdesk, as in many other companies. In addition, you will set up, expand and maintain various IT systems as well as mobile communications (4/5G) and satellite communications (VSAT) on board of our ships and in ports together with your colleagues from the "IT Vessel Team". These extensive activities will enable you to get a comprehensive overview of the multitude of IT and communication systems at FRS. You will also get to know your colleagues, the customers' point of view and the company itself very well.

In addition, the apprentices and dual students regularly work on projects in which further technical and social skills are aquired. From the second year on you will be increasingly involved in IT projects and progressively taking on more and more responsibility. Depending on the current projects, you will get to know and work on various innovative technologies. Furthermore, you will be actively involved in the development of the IT world at FRS already during your apprenticeship. This will also prepare you optimally for your final apprenticeship project.
